Ross P. Barrett is the managing General Partner of Big Ventures Management, LLC, the management company for venture capital funds TransBio Ventures—an affiliated investment partnership of MD Anderson Cancer Center and is the Investment Manager for Congress Avenue Equity Armor, a long-short hedge fund based in Austin, Texas.  He is a co-founder and Chairman of the software and data analytics company Lagniappe Labs, LLC.

Previously, Ross worked on Capitol Hill as a legislative aide to senior U.S. Senator, J. Bennett Johnston, where he specialized in appropriations, risk assessment and regulatory reform. He has been an adviser to or investor in over twenty early-stage privately held companies.

​

He was appointed as Commissioner of to the Louisiana Airport Authority from 2005-2008. In 2007, he was named to Governor Bobby Jindal’s Small Business and Entrepreneurship transition team. Mr. Barrett currently is a member of Louisiana State Committee of 100 and is a past President of the Shreveport-Bossier Committee of 100.  He is a Trustee of Centenary College of Louisiana and a visiting professor for innovation and entrepreneurship at Louisiana Tech University.

Ross holds a LLM. Degree in Taxation from the New York University School of Law, a J.D. from Louisiana State University School of Law, and a B.A. in Political Science from Southern Methodist University.

Mr. Barrett’s board seats include Esperance Pharmaceuticals, specialty pharma company Embera Neurotherapeutics, MicroBiome Therapeutics, NuPotential, VC Experts, Inc. and cancer therapeutics company K-94 Discoveries.

Personal and charitable interests include charitable video gaming company Second Command Digital, LLC, Hope For New York and Centenary College where he serves on the Board of Trustees.  Mr. Barrett and his wife are the parents of four daughters and live in Shreveport, Louisiana.
