Michael Meeks, Ph.D. - Louisiana State University at Shreveport

Growing up in California's Silicon Valley, and possessing a passion for people, culture, and sports, Dr. Meeks has traveled to over 80 countries. With a background in engineering, computer science, and physics; and over 20 years of experience founding and managing over 30 successful ventures, Dr. Meeks returned to the classroom to earn his MBA at the University of San Diego, then completed his doctoral studies at the University of Georgia and the University of Colorado-Boulder.

As a Native American and recipient of KPMG's fellowship program to promote faculty diversity, he has enjoyed working on a number of richly disparate campuses, including the University of San Diego, the University of Georgia, the University of San Francisco, the University of Colorado-Boulder, American University, San Francisco State University, Victoria University (Wellington, New Zealand), the University of North Texas, and now at Louisiana State University Shreveport. His interests (research and teaching) focus on the intersection between strategic management and entrepreneurship (and Family Business), with a special interest in generational differences (especially the Millennial Generation and Generation-Z), personality differences, negotiations, and technology.

While at San Francisco State University he founded and served as the executive director of the University's Family Business Center, and Family Winery Forum. His most rewarding entrepreneurial experience was his martial arts school, which explains his being a vegetarian, his extensive travels to the Far East, and his fascination with Buddhism and the Hindu Faith. Namaste! In his spare time you'll find Dr. Meeks on the golf course, tennis or racquetball court, out for a bike or run, trekking somewhere in the mountains, attending a spiritual retreat, waterskiing or snow skiing, or traveling (parks, nature, cultures).
